Atlantic Seaboard pools are mostly small, mostly spectacular and almost always exposed. Kwik Pools looks after private homes, apartment blocks and short term rentals from Green Point and Sea Point through Fresnaye, Bantry Bay, Clifton and Camps Bay out to Llandudno and Hout Bay.
Anything within sight of the water here takes salt spray daily. It corrodes pool equipment, eats fixings, marks unsealed coping and shortens the life of anything electrical near the pool. Add the wind funnelling off the mountain and you have pools that lose heat fast and collect debris constantly. Equipment out here needs to be specified for a marine environment, not just for the pool volume, and the plant enclosure matters as much as the plant.
A large share of the pools we service on this strip are rentals, and the requirement is different: the pool has to be perfect on changeover day, every time, whether the owner is in Cape Town or in London. We work to arrival schedules, send photos after each visit and call the owner or the managing agent if something needs a decision rather than waiting to be asked. Guests never notice the pool, which is exactly what you are paying for.
Steep driveways, shared parking, security gates and pools three floors up on a terrace are normal here. It changes how a job is planned, particularly anything involving draining, plant replacement or getting materials to the pool. We look at access before quoting so the price you get is the price it costs.
Most Seaboard pools are compact, which is good news: they are cheap to heat and quick to bring back. A heat pump and a cover turn a small plunge pool into something usable most of the year.
