The pool stock here is largely seventies and eighties, and the pattern is consistent: solid shells, surfaces on their second or third life, and plant that has been replaced piecemeal over the years rather than as a set. The result is often a pump that does not match the filter, on plumbing that matches neither.
Mature gardens add the usual Southern Suburbs leaf load, heaviest through autumn, with the organic matter that comes with it driving up chemical demand well after the leaves have been skimmed out.
