The elevation gives you wind off the mountain and a good view, and it takes heat off an open pool in exchange. Pools here hold temperature noticeably better once they are covered, which makes a cover the first thing worth discussing before any heating quote.
Established gardens mean organic load, especially through autumn, and a fair amount of shade on parts of the pool through the day.
Most pools up here are a decent size on properties where the pool is a genuine feature. That is worth spending on properly: correctly sized plant, a surface that is actually sound, and a service schedule that keeps the chemistry stable. Large pools punish undersized pumps, and an oversized pool that never quite turns over is a permanent low grade problem rather than a dramatic failure.
