Big gardens mean shade in places and organic load through autumn, and the Helderberg summer heat means high chemical demand from November onwards. The combination catches people out, because the pool that is easy in March is a different animal in January.
Bather load matters here too. These are family pools that get swum in properly, and swimmers consume chlorine and load the filter in a way an ornamental pool never does.
Setting the summer schedule in October rather than reacting in January is what separates an easy season from a difficult one here. Stabiliser checked before the heat arrives, filtration hours increased for summer, and the filter looked at rather than assumed. None of it is expensive and all of it prevents the calls we get in midsummer.

Pools must be secured against unsupervised access. A correctly installed net or fence is generally accepted, but check with your municipality and insurer.
