Sand is the constant. Wind driven sand off the flats loads filters, wears pump seals and settles into pool floors faster than most owners expect. Filter condition is the first thing we check when someone says the water will not clear.
Borehole water is widely used out here and brings iron, manganese and variable hardness with it, which causes staining people routinely mistake for algae.
Sandy ground also hides leaks unusually well. Water escaping a pool here disappears without a soggy patch or a damp wall, so a pool can lose a serious volume for months with no visible sign at all. Where the level is dropping we test properly rather than waiting for evidence that sandy ground will never give you.
