Scale is the first consideration. These are large volume pools, and everything about them costs more in proportion: chemical, electricity, filtration hours and heating. An undersized pump on a pool this size never achieves proper turnover, so the water sits permanently slightly behind no matter how much is dosed into it.
The second consideration is the planting. Mature, dense gardens mean constant organic load and significant shade, and a big shaded pool is slow to recover from anything that goes wrong.
Because these pools are expensive to run and expensive to fix, they reward doing things properly once. Correctly sized plant, a cover on a heated pool, and a service schedule that keeps the chemistry stable will cost less over five years than a cycle of emergency repairs and reactive chemical dosing. Where a shell needs work, we would rather do the whole project in one go than return every second year.
