Temperatures pushing well past the mid thirties do serious things to a pool. Evaporation is heavy, chlorine strips fast without proper stabiliser, and water temperatures climb high enough that algae growth accelerates dramatically.
Borehole and irrigation water is widely used for filling here, and it brings iron, manganese and highly variable hardness. Dosing a borehole filled pool as though it were municipal water is how people end up with stained plaster and a scaled up chlorinator cell.
The two jobs that pay for themselves fastest in Paarl are a cover and a proper water test. The cover cuts the evaporation that has people topping up constantly through summer. The test tells you whether your stains are iron, whether your stabiliser is doing anything, and whether the calcium is about to start scaling your equipment.
