Kenridge is classic Northern Suburbs: big erven, established homes and pools built when pools were built big. Kwik Pools looks after them on the Bellville and Durbanville route.
A lot of Kenridge pools are on the large side, which changes the maths. More volume means more chemical, more filtration hours and a bigger heating bill if you want the water usable outside of high summer. It also means an undersized pump, common on pools where the original was replaced with whatever was cheapest, never quite keeps up.
The other Kenridge feature is age. Many of these pools are thirty to forty years old, and while the shells are usually excellent, the marbelite, the plumbing and the plant are all well past their original design life.
Large pools punish mistakes. An undersized pump on a big Kenridge pool never achieves proper turnover, so the water is always slightly behind no matter how much chlorine goes in. We work out the actual volume and size the plant to it rather than replacing like for like with whatever was there.
