Two forces work on a Big Bay pool constantly: salt spray and wind. The spray attacks equipment, fixings, coping and anything unsealed. The wind strips heat, drives evaporation and delivers sand. Together they shorten the life of pool plant here more than anywhere else in the metro.
That means specification matters. Stainless where it counts, sealed and correctly sited enclosures, coping that has actually been sealed against salt, and a titanium heat exchanger if there is a heat pump on the pool. Getting that wrong is not a small mistake here, it is a replacement in three years instead of ten.
The upside is that these are mostly newer, well built pools on properties where the pool is a genuine feature. They respond well to being set up properly once: correct plant, a good cover, sealed surrounds and a service schedule that keeps the chemistry stable. After that they are surprisingly low drama for such a harsh spot.
