Fibreglass shells fail differently to concrete — the gel coat crazes, blisters or cracks, and no amount of patching hides it for long. Kwik Pools does fibreglass pool relining across Cape Town, restoring the shell properly rather than painting over the problem.
A fine spider web across the surface. Cosmetic at first, but it lets water into the laminate underneath.
Radiating cracks from a single point, usually where the shell has been stressed or knocked.
UV breaks the gel coat down until the colour goes flat and the surface powders.

The shell is drained, dried and prepared — and the drying matters more than anything else, because fibreglass will not bond to a damp substrate. Crazed and blistered areas are ground back, cracks are opened and laminated, then the new layers go on.
The gel coat is applied over that and cured properly before the pool is refilled and balanced. Done in the right order, it is a genuine restoration rather than a cosmetic cover-up.
